Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about consulting doctors online, ordering medication, pricing, and coverage on Lonia.

Lonia is a Nigerian telemedicine service. You book a video consultation with a verified Nigerian doctor, get a digitally-signed prescription where it's clinically appropriate, and order the medication for delivery anywhere in Nigeria for a flat ₦4,000. Online counselling is available the same way. Lonia is not for emergencies.

How does Lonia work?

Lonia lets you consult licensed doctors online by video, receive a digitally-signed prescription, and order medication for delivery — all from your phone or computer, anywhere in Nigeria. Online counselling with a therapist works the same way, and you can do the whole thing over WhatsApp if you prefer.

How much does an online doctor consultation cost?

Consultation fees are set by each doctor and depend on whether they are a general practitioner or a specialist. You always see the exact fee before you confirm and pay for a booking — there are no hidden charges.

What is the ₦4,000 fee?

₦4,000 is the flat medication delivery fee, added when you order medication for delivery. It is the same anywhere in Nigeria, and it is not marked up.

Do I need a prescription to order medication?

Many everyday medicines — such as common pain-relief, cold, and allergy remedies — can be ordered directly. Controlled and prescription-only medicines, including opioids and other strong painkillers, sedatives, and similar regulated drugs, require a valid prescription from a licensed Lonia doctor. If you don't have one, you can book an online consultation and a doctor can assess you and issue a prescription where clinically appropriate.

Where is Lonia available?

Anywhere in Nigeria. Doctor and therapy consultations happen by video, so your location doesn't limit you, and medication delivery is nationwide.

Can I book a lab test or a home nursing visit?

Not yet. Lab tests with home sample collection and home nursing visits are still in development and cannot be booked today. Online doctor consultations, online counselling, and medication delivery are all live and available now.

How does medication delivery work?

Add medications to your cart from the catalog, pay online, and your order is fulfilled and delivered by our nationwide pharmacy partner. A flat ₦4,000 delivery fee applies. You can track your order status from your account.

How do I get a prescription?

After your online consultation, the doctor can issue a prescription that is digitally signed by them. A prescription is only valid once the issuing doctor has signed it, and you can then order the prescribed medication for delivery.

How do payments work?

Payments are processed securely online through Paystack. Lonia holds your payment and releases it to the provider only after the service is completed, so your money is protected until you have received care.

Is my health information safe?

Yes. Lonia protects your personal and health data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and all access to medical records is logged for audit and compliance.
