Health Worker Terms
Version 1.0 · Effective 26 May 2026
These Health Worker Terms apply to nurses, midwives, and other health workers who accept home-service and lab-sample jobs through the Lonia Telemedicine platform. They form part of your agreement with Lonia together with the Platform Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Where these terms add to or differ from the Platform Terms for health workers, these apply.
Lonia (Lonia Telemedicine) is the telemedicine branch of Lonia Clinic & Maternity. We verify the qualifications and registration of the health workers we onboard before activating their accounts.
By ticking the acceptance box you warrant that you are qualified to provide the services you accept and agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Licensing and eligibility (you warrant and must maintain)
- You hold the valid qualification and current registration/licence required for your role with the relevant Nigerian regulator (for example the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) for nurses/midwives), and you practise only within your competence and scope.
- You will provide accurate qualification and identity details and verification documents,
and you authorise Lonia to verify them. You may only accept jobs after Lonia has
verified you (
isVerified). - You will promptly notify Lonia if your registration or licence lapses, is restricted, or is under investigation.
2. Accepting and performing jobs
- You will see jobs matched to your location and service offerings. Accepting a job is a commitment to perform it at the agreed time and place; the Platform may cap how many jobs you can hold at once.
- You will arrive on time, confirm the patient's identity, perform the service safely, hygienically, and to professional standards, and update the job status accurately (for example en route, arrived, completed).
- You will carry appropriate supplies and follow infection-prevention and clinical-safety practices. You will escalate or advise the patient to seek emergency/in-person care where their condition requires it.
- If you cannot attend an accepted job, you must cancel as early as possible so it can be reassigned. Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may affect your standing or lead to removal.
3. Conduct and patient safety
- You will treat patients, their households, partners, and Lonia staff with respect, and maintain appropriate professional boundaries while in a patient's home.
- You will not solicit patients off-platform, accept off-platform payment for platform jobs, or misrepresent your qualifications.
4. Confidentiality and data protection
- You will keep all patient information strictly confidential in line with the National Health Act 2014 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, access it only as needed to perform the job, and not retain or share it afterwards. Access to medical data is logged.
- For lab jobs, you will handle and transport samples in line with the partner laboratory's instructions and applicable safety rules.
5. Fees, escrow and payouts
- Lonia operates an escrow model: the patient pays through the Platform, and your share is released to your nominated bank account after the job is completed.
- Pricing: for home services you set your service cost; the patient also pays a platform visit/transport fee disclosed at booking. For lab-test jobs, the worker share is 30% and the platform share 70% of the applicable amount, unless your account states otherwise.
- You are responsible for your own taxes on amounts you receive. Payouts depend on accurate bank details; failed payouts may be retried, and refunds for undelivered or disputed jobs may be offset against amounts owed to you.
6. Independent contractor; no guarantee of work
You are an independent contractor, not an employee or agent of Lonia. Nothing here creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship, and Lonia does not guarantee any minimum number of jobs or earnings. You are responsible for your own equipment, transport, and any insurance appropriate to your work.
7. Liability and indemnity
You are responsible for, and will indemnify Lonia against, claims arising from the services you perform, your breach of professional duty, or your breach of these terms. Lonia provides the Platform "as is" and its liability to you is limited as set out in the Platform Terms.
8. Suspension and termination
Lonia may suspend or remove you if your licence lapses or is restricted, if a credible patient-safety or conduct concern arises, if you breach these terms, or if required by law. You may stop accepting jobs at any time, subject to completing jobs you have already accepted.
9. Acknowledgement
By ticking the acceptance box at registration you confirm your qualification and licensing warranties and agree to these Health Worker Terms, the Platform Terms, and the Privacy Policy.
Specific pricing and split arrangements shown in your account prevail where they set out commercial terms.
